After you put the kids to bed of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

After you become a parent, Valentine’s Day becomes about your kids. You are making sure you’ve decorated the valentine boxes Pinterest perfect and are also double checking you have gluten free, peanut free, chocolate free, sugar free, M&M’s. At this point, all you want for Valentine’s Day is 12 hours of sleep, a bottle wine, and Netflix. Below I have researched (and used trial and error) to find the best, easiest, realistic, dates for parents to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Enjoy!

1. Start a tradition

This is one my husband and I are starting this year. We are starting the tradition that every Valentine’s Day (the actual day) we get Chinese food, a bottle of wine, dessert, and watch a movie. I love the tradition aspect of this because it’s one less thing we have to plan, but something to look forward to even if we go out on the weekend for a celebration.

2. Puzzle time

I know some super cool people who have awesome pictures framed in their home. Except, they are actually puzzles they have done together! What a cool way to spend time together. You may not finish the puzzle that night but it will be cool to frame when you finish (I have a link to some trendy puzzles below). When you have people over you can show them your Valentine’s Day puzzle (insert cheesy comment here).

3. Massages

Get some candles, lotion, and chocolate covered strawberries and take turn giving each other fifteen minute massages. This is a fun way to be romantic and relax!

4. New lingerie

Stop by Victoria’s Secret or Kohl’s and get you some lingerie momma! Keep it a secret and don’t tell your husband. Your hubs would appreciate it so much and it would be fun too! I’m not going to go in detail of what will happen next here (hehe).

5. Star gaze by a fire

If the weather permits, get a fire going, star gaze, and grab your favorite drink. I know it’s super cliche, but star gazing is really fun if you know what you are looking at. I have linked below a few books that might be helpful to use.

6. Try a new restaurant

Find a restaurant neither one of you has been before, get dressed up, and go celebrate! If you can, leave the kids with the grandparents or a sitter. It will be worth it!

7. Late candlelight dinner

After the kids have gone to bed, eat a candlelight dinner with one another. Set the mood with candles, wine, and dim lights. Cook his favorite meal and just enjoy each other and the fact that your kids are sleeping. ๐Ÿ˜‰

8. DIY wine tasting

Get a few different types of wine at the store and sample each one. You can even do some research and pair certain foods with the wine. You can get cute little sampling cups for a dollar at Dollar Tree.

9. Watch your wedding video

We pay so much money for our wedding videos and they sit in a box for years to come. Blow off the dust and crack that thing open. Reminiscence of how much you have grown in your marriage and laugh at how ignorant you were that day!

10. Board game championship

Pull out some of your favorite board games or grab a deck of cards. Have a championship and keep score. The winner gets a prize the other spouse has picked out! You can get sexy here! ๐Ÿ˜‰

11. Movie and junk food

This may not be the healthiest option but probably the most yummy. Grab your guilty pleasure junk food snack and watch a movie together.

12. Drinks & appetizers

Though it may not be the most realistic, it is the most fun. Get a sitter and go to a really cool bar or restaurant. Get dolled up and make it fancy. These are some of our best times that we have had together!

13. Cook together

Pick a new recipe, grab a bottle of wine, and cook together. You can even have a candlelight dinner after you have finished cooking.

I hope you and your boo have a wonderful Valentine’s Day together! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Xoxo,
