Day 9 – Thieves Household Cleaner
If you’re following along, we have spent the past 8 days learning how to ditch and switch some of our toxic cleaning products. We have used Thieves household cleaner as the key ingredient in many our DIYs. The best thing about Thieves cleaner is that it is safe, effective and REALLY WORKS! Today, I am going talk a little more about Thieves household cleaner and offer you a great deal!
What is Thieves cleaner?
Thieves household cleaner is a concentrated solution that is made up of plant-based ingredients. It combines the strength of Thieves essential oil blend with naturally derived ingredients. It can be used on almost ANYTHING, seriously. I use it on everything. It’s safe for your entire family, pets and kiddos included!
Does it work?
There have been many experiments done on Thieves essential oil blend and Thieves household cleaner. This photo below sums up the power of Thieves.
Personally, Thieves household cleaner has changed my cleaning life (is that even a thing). I use it for my windows, countertops, bathrooms, carpets, and even on my fruit! I know it is safe for my family and I can trust the product.

Why you should ditch and switch
Like I’ve mentioned before, one of the most toxic ingredients in our home products is fragrance. It is in most everything and we need to stay away from it. Fragrance:
– can disrupt hormones
– trigger asthma and other respiratory issues
– can be a carcinogen.
Just to name a few. WOW! Fragrance can pass through the skin and blood and can hide on label and be called over 100 different words.
There are lots of other ingredients that are toxic in our most used cleaning products. Here are just a few others:
- SLS and SLES (sodium lauryl sulfate) – strips skin of its natural oils causing irritation to skin and eyes. Can also cause damage to lungs. Provides the bubbles in most cleaners.
- Formaldehyde – enhances smell of soap. It is a respiratory irritant and can cause chest pain, shortness of breath, coughing, has been linked to increased asthma in kids, and may also cause cancer.
- Phosphates – helps remove grease and grim. Too many phosphates can cause liver damage and can be extremely poisonous to aquatic life (we end up eating some of this aquatic life). Over exposure can be fatal.
Before I started using Thieves household cleaner, I was using Lysol cleaning products. Many of them score an 8 out of 10, 10 being the most toxic, on the Think Dirty app. Check it out.
Another reason I switched and ditched is because I trust Young Living. I don’t have to worry about where my product came from or what is in it. Young Living has a Seed to Seal Standard. That simply means that Young Living has full control of the product from when it is planted in the ground, made, and then packaged so you can enjoy. The farm ground that is chosen is raw ground to avoid previous chemicals and pesticides from previous farmer. It’s known that Young Living is beyond organic.
I am a skeptic. However, the more I’ve learned and used Young Living products, the more I fall in love with their products. They have been around for over 25 years and I have built a good reputation on trust and integrity.
